Allergic rhinitis(AR) , more commonly referred to as hay fever, is an inflammation of the nasal passages caused by allergic reaction to airborne substances. Symptoms include nasal congestion, a clear runny nose, sneezing, nose and eye itching, and tearing eyes. Post-nasal dripping of clear mucus frequently causes a cough. Loss of smell is common and loss of taste occurs occasionally. Nose bleeding may occur if the condition is severe.
There are two types of allergic rhinitis: seasonal and perennial. Seasonal AR occurs in the spring, summer, and early fall, when airborne plant pollens are at their highest levels. Perennial AR occurs all year and is usually caused by airborne pollutants in the home and other places.

Causes of allergy
Certain allergens are always present. These include house dust mites, household pet danders, foods, and mold spores. Symptoms from these are frequently worse in the winter when the house is closed up. Mold spores cause at least as many allergy problems as pollens. Molds are present all year long, and grow outdoors and indoors. Dead leaves and farm areas are common sources for outdoor molds. Indoor plants, old books, bathrooms, and damp areas are common sources of indoor mold growth. Molds are also common in foods, such as cheese and fermented beverages
Symptoms that occur shortly after you come into contact with the substance you are allergic to may include:
- Itchy nose, mouth, eyes, throat, skin, or any area
- Watery eyes
- Problems with smell
- Runny nose
Symptoms that may develop later include:
- Stuffy nose (nasal congestion)
- Clogged ears and decreased sense of smell
- Sore throat
- Dark circles under the eyes
- Puffiness under the eyes
- Fatigue and irritability
Homeopathy approach to Allergic Rhinitis
Homeopathy: Homeopathic treatment reduces symptoms and improves quality of your life with seasonal allergic rhinitis. It significantly improves your immunity so that you don't fall prey to allergens frequently. The medication targets your body's immune system and reduces the hypersensitivity to the allergens. Over a period of time, you react less aggressively to the allergens and gradually the hypersensitivity is cured.
