Signs
and Symptoms
Tonsillitis
typically will cause your child's tonsils to become visibly red
and swollen. You also may notice patches of white discharge on
infected tonsils. Sometimes the adenoids will be swollen as well -
even though you can't see them. These lymphatic tissues are
located at the back of the throat, above the area where your
tonsils are located. Other signs and symptoms of tonsillitis
include:
Severe sore throat and difficult swallowing
- Headache
- Fever and
chills
- Enlarged, sore
glands in the jaw and neck
- Fatigue and
lethargy

When
to Seek Medical Advice
Although tonsillitis itself usually isn't serious, it can lead to complications if left untreated. Call your doctor if your child meets one or more of the following criteria:
- as symptoms of tonsillitis that last more than 48 hours, especially if accompanied by a high fever (103 F or higher in children)
- Has a history of tonsillitis
- Has a sore throat that worsens, despite the use of antibiotics
- Has been exposed to strep throat
- Get medical care right away if your child has trouble breathing or difficulty swallowing anything, including saliva. Also seek immediate medical attention if he or she develops new signs or symptoms such as a severe headache, chest pain, joint pain, a rash or vomiting.

Prevention
Proper hand washing is still the best way to prevent all kinds of infections. That's why it's important to wash your own hands regularly and to show your children how to wash their hands properly. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends taking the following steps:
- Use soap and running water.
- Rub your hands vigorously as you wash them.
- Wash the backs of your hands, your wrists, between your fingers and underneath your fingernails.
- Rinse well and leave the water running until you're done washing.
- If possible, dry your hands with a towel you can throw away, such as a paper towel.
- Turn off the water using a paper towel.
- Try to choose a child-care provider that requires children to wash their hands several times a day - not just before meals. Be sure the sinks are low enough for children to reach.
In addition, teach your children to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. And if your child does have tonsillitis, make sure no one else uses his or her drinking glasses and eating utensils. Wash those items carefully in hot, soapy water or a dishwasher.

Self
Care
When staying home with your child, plan some low-key activities that you both can enjoy. These may be things you don't normally have time to do, such as reading a special book aloud. Also, check the TV schedule for children's programs, and supervise what your child watches.
If your child is sick and you feel pressure to return to work, recruit help from your partner or from other relatives and friends. Perhaps your employer will let you work from home. Also check with your union or company policies on sick child care.
Some older children can stay at home alone. If you choose this option, check in with your child often. Also make sure your child knows how to reach you quickly.

Tonsils
& Homeopathy
Commonly
the parents choose surgery for tonsils and adenoids. We do not
advice surgery because the lymphoid tissue adenoid and tonsils are
like securities against infection. Surgical removal is not
advisable. Homoeopathy is well known for the treatment of
tonsillitis. If you look deep into the causative factor you can
find two basic causative factors, immunity and allergy which
predispose tonsillitis. If a child prone to get infections
frequently, it shows that immunity is very less. If a child often
sneezes due to the air pollution, he is allergic. Then the process
causes an infection, which spread over the adenoids, tonsils and
so on
Cases
from My memory:
Case -1
A very delicate child was brought to me by her mother at the
beginning of 2001, suffering from enlarged tonsils Although the
adenoid growths from which she had suffered had been removed by
operation .She did not breath nicely, a little phlegam in her
throat see-sawed backwards and forwards without seemingly ever
being got rid of. She was given Homeopathic medicine called Thuja
After seven months 'persistent treatments by Homeopathic medicines
, her tonsils are about the right size ,breathing is good , and
the patient is somewhat nearing the normal. She articulates now ,
and answer a question promptly , Her parents and their friends are
struck by the very great change that has come over her.
Case -2
In the month of December 2000, a chubby little boy of seven years
of age was brought to me for enlarged tonsils. His father was
assured by eminent Delhi surgeons ,there was absolutely no cure
without operations I assured this gentleman and finally this lad
was under my care for nine months . he was given the homeopathic
medicine Bacillinum 30 , which finished the cure
Case-3
Arjun ,age nine years , was brought to me by his mother on June
1998, for enormously enlarged tonsils , pains in stomach after
food , snoring at night , with restless sleep, dull and stupid .
He was nearly two years under me , and then discharged in
excellent health. He was given the homeopathic medicine
Bacillinum. When his mother brought him to me for final checkup, I
had great satisfaction of observing a fine healthy child , with
tonsils restored to their normal size and functions . The boy has
lost his stupid look and takes a good position at his school.
I might go and fill a big book with records of cases of enlarged
tonsils cured by homeopathic medicines. In conclusion , I will
state as my opinion , based upon clinical facts as I see them in
my daily work that tonsils should not be cut or damaged by local
applications . Tonsils are important organs of the body,.Some have
regarded the tonsils as filters barring the enterance of the
disease in to the body and their total removal is an act of
ignorant folly.
